Anatomy Class?

Anna stayed with her favorite person in the world, Aunt Jenni, while Daddy and I had our weekly small group night last night.  Jenni told me a pretty hilarious story while loading Anna into the car when I came to get her.  She said that she (and Anna) were helping Anna's cousins get ready for their bath.  One of the girls had shucked her clothes and was waiting to get in.  Anna stood right in front of her, leaned down to inspect her "girl parts" for a second, popped back up and looked at Jenni and said, "Jenni, she a girl!"  I haven't had that conversation with her yet so I'm not sure if she has just picked up on it while being around when I change Grey's diaper.  Or maybe Daddy has already taken charge of that area and done it.  ??

...

Anna: "Mommy, whah happened to your eyes?"

Me: "What's wrong with them?"

Anna: "They very red."

I guess eventhough Grey is almost sleeping through the night (I KNOW!), I still am sleep deprived.  And the fact that I don't take my contacts out at night.  But mostly sleep I think.

Easter for a Princess.

Anna got a pretty sweet deal for Easter.  We didn't really make a big deal out of the Easter bunny...  for no other reason than I plain forgot about it.  I have that "mom amnesia" lately.  I did go get her a basket, which was the sweet deal.  I found a pretty cheesy Disney princess dress up basket at Target.  It came with a LOVELY (ha!) dress up gown, slippers, a crown, some fragile jewelry that is already broken, a frilly rubber band for her hair, and some candy.  I took it out of the ugly wrapping and put it in a real basket I got from our wonderful, newly opened World Market.  :)  Anna also got to eat M&Ms for breakfast.  You can probably see her chocolate mouth.

Grey got a cute little swede bunny with some chocolate eggs that I'll take care of for him.  He was super excited....not.

I remember...

I wasn't sure how all this "two kids" business was going to work out.  So far, it hasn't been too bad...well, at least as bad as I thought.  I haven't needed medication just yet.  :)  Although, there have been many memories that have surfaced recently.  Memories that I thought I had forgotten.  I told someone today that Grey is beginning to wake up a little more during the day...  and soon will be awake for most of the day, and maybe for most of the night.  Then I remembered...  All they do (most of them at least) is sleep right after they are born and you wish they'd wake up to see their eyes.  Then after a few weeks or months you wish they'd just close their eyes and sleep for just a little while.  After that you hope they sit up as soon as possible, then you just wish they'd stay laying down.  You want them to crawl so they can be more independent, then you just wish they'd sit still.  You hope they walk because it's just so cool to see them look like a big kid, then you feel like you have to strap them down or gate them in everywhere...  And it begins again.  I also remember having to just go outside late at night and water plants because Anna was screaming and I couldn't make her stop for anything.  I just needed to be away from her for a little while so that no injury occurred.  My plants may get lots of water this summer!  Ha!

The funny thing is is that yesterday, both Anna and Grey were crying and I about had a breakdown.  It was only for like 15 seconds...  pretty pathetic on my part and I hope I can cope with that a little better than I did yesterday since it will happen many times I'm sure.

Poor Grey.

He may look a little more like me than I thought.

The kid has NO idea what kind of camera crazy mom he has.  Here are a few more pics.  He gets a little too much love from his sister sometimes.

My first attempt at the overexposed, blownout background shot.  I need to work on it a bit.

Soooooo Slooowww....

I swear it takes Anna an hour to eat a meal.  I guess I'm a pretty fast eater and can finish everything in like 15 minutes tops.  But Anna will piddle around, take small bites of everything, dip her fingers in whatever dip she has, etc.  I feel like I've been sitting at the table for forever with her until she finally finishes.  I suppose it could be worse.

"Whah happen to dat bunny?!"

We went to see Daddy's family this weekend and let the relatives meet Grey who haven't yet gotten the chance.  We also drove to Colorado to an 80th birthday party for Daddy's grandpa. Grammy and Papa Joe's cool house out in the country is always a fun place to go.  There are horses, baby kitties, a donkey, and way too many dogs.  Ha!  If you live on a farm, there always seems to be something rather gross or disturbing that you stumble upon.  Or at least I always found something like that where I lived.  Anything from poop to a dead animal.  When Anna, Grammy, and Abby went out to the back to see the horses, they stumbled upon one of those things.  Apparently, the dogs keep the backyard free of any rodents that may enter their territory...including rabbits.  One unlucky bunny got his head stuck in the fence...and the dogs found him before he could escape.  So just picture a headless bunny stuck halfway through the fence.  Nice.  And it was right where the horses were.  I didn't see it, but I'm assuming that was the way it went.  Anna was VERY concerned and let us know all about it when she came back inside.  She kept asking everyone, "Whah happen to dat bunny?!" over and over.  I didn't know what she was talking about until Grammy told me.

I think Grammy did her best on consoling her, but what do you say?  Lie and tell her the bunny is in Bunny Heaven?  And what do you say when she asks where the bunny's head went?  It apparently wasn't anywhere to be found.

Grey's first Photo Session.

I took some pictures of Grey yesterday.  He wasn't in a photogenic mood...  not unhappy, just indifferent I think.  But I also didn't really have much of a plan on what I wanted to do so these are just fabulous pictures.  But at least I got some done before he changed too much.

How pregnant was I?

Well, not 40 weeks and 2 days for sure!  I finally figured out how to take that pregnancy calendar off the header...like it was hard or something.  But now the top is sorta plain.  I'm not sure how to make it all cute like some of the rest of the blogs I see, i.e. Megan and Molly and Peter.  :)  I need some blog help.  Jen, ya happy now?  Ha!  Kiddn.

Sorry 'bout the delay!

It's been crazy around here and this is the first time I've sat down at the computer.  Everything went well on Monday.  We went in for the c-section at around 8:30am, did all the paperwork, got in my stylish gown, they poked me all over, took me in at around 11:30 and Grey was born at 11:43 am.  He weighed 7lbs 8oz and was 21 inches long.  I had a great anethesiolgist and an unbelievable nurse (I guess that's what she was) who did almost everything while we were in the OR...including taking some awesome pictures.  I was wondering what the rest of the people were doing in there since she did almost everything.  I was really dreading the whole c-section and post-op recovery but it went really well.  I wasn't sick like I was with Anna and have felt VERY good compared to my recovery with the last surgery.  I almost feel normal!  Grey is an awesome baby.  He has cried maybe 3 times since he was born, including the time right after he was born.  He hardly makes a peep.  Anna loves him and was really ready for us to come home.  She has been a big help and hasn't been misbehaving too badly.  Typical 2 year old stuff I think, but not anything related to the new addition in her world.  Speaking of...should I change the name of the blog?  Ha!  Here are some pictures.  I'll spare you the super cool, bloody surgery pictures.  :)  I'll post more pictures when slide.com doesn't freeze up our internet.

11:00am

That's the time I'm scheduled to go in for the c-section.  We have to be there at 8:30am to check in and stuff although we'll probably have to leave way ahead of time because of the weather.  They say "blizzard conditions" in the morning.  Yikes!

I'm feeling a little better.  I'm still snotty and coughing and my ears are STILL stopped up.  But they say it could take a while for those to get back to normal.  They'll be able to give me some good drugs tomorrow since I won't be pregnant anymore!  YAY!

I'll be home on Thursday-ish so hopefully there will be some new posts up around that time.  And maybe even some with some pictures!!  Can you believe it?
