A day in the life...

Since we live less than a block away from a great park, we go at least once or twice a day...sometimes more. If I ever leave Daddy and Anna to run errands and come back to an empty house, I know exactly where they are. I came home last night to find them gone again so I grabbed my camera and headed on over. Anna thinks this place is her other home. She loves to go down the big slides eventhough her face says otherwise in some of the pictures! :) She gets to the bottom and goes right back to the top to do it again.

I prefer Italian Chocolate.

Anna reached up on the counter and got the sacred Italian chocolate. She thought she have a little.

Frustrated...ALREADY!

So after the potty trick the other day, Anna hasn't been the least bit interested in actually "going" on the potty. For a couple of days after her little trick (which in many ways seems to be just good timing on my part and a little help from Anna) she would run towards the bathroom and say "I 'ant more potty please!" You can imagine her sentence being choppy because she is trying to sign as she speaks. So I'd think, "ok, here she goes...she's gonna do it again!" But no, I take her clothes off, take her diaper off, sit her little bottom on the brand spankin' new potty seat and after about, oh, 7 seconds of acting like she's pooping, she says, "all done! bye-bye potty." This happened MULTIPLE times. I mean, more than 10 the first day. The second day, I gave up after about 4 or 5 times. It's all just a game now. Although I'd rather it be a game than a screaming fit. That may come I suppose. So now I just ask her a couple of times a day when I think she might really need to go. I stick her on the seat, same routine....and nothin'. She may not be as ready as we all thought. ...me either.

"Poopy? I 'ant more potty?!"

These are the words of my 18 month old. She now tells me before she needs to go "Number 2" and asks for the potty. Hmm. Recently I thought about going to buy a little potty for her. I told myself last week that there's no way I'd be consistent with her now since she didn't know what REALLY happens with the potty. But she wants to sit on it all the time. And my sister told me to start her in the summer. Later last week Anna was standing in the living room and said "poopy? potty?" then just went in her diaper almost immediately. I and my laziness just sat on the couch and thought, "I guess I should've gotten up and taken her." But I just sat there. So last night we were eating dinner (AT OUR DINING ROOM TABLE! Mom will be proud). We were almost done and Anna started saying "toot!?" and pointing to one of us. ...one of the many funny things we will regret teaching her. Then she said, "poopy? I 'ant more potty?!" I was NOT going to waste this opportunity so I pulled her out of her highchair and whisked her away to the potty. And you'll never believe it but, SHE DID IT! It was hilarious. I thought about taking pictures but what in the world would I have taken them of? I'll spare you that. So I guess I'll be buying a potty very soon. I'm really not sure where to start with all of this, but I suppose Anna has already started without me!

Hannah and Micah

I had a practice photo shoot with some great kiddos today. I'm still (slowly) learning how to use my digital camera and I don't have photo shop just yet. Well, that's a lie...I HAVE a copy of it but our poor computer is already struggling so much that I'm scared to try to install it. So I make due with trying to shoot good pictures that don't need much "doctoring" (HA!) or just mess with them with my very modest photo imaging program that came free with my printer. Nice, I know... I also thought this would be the best way for their mom to see some of the pics! I hope we got some good ones Deb!

Great timing.

For some stupid reason lately I've been really wanting to bust out of the house right about the time Anna wants/needs to take a nap. Well today, my lunch plans cancelled on me and we were all dressed to go nowhere. But wait?! Didn't I need to go to Wal-Mart? ....for something?! I decided I'd figure it out once I got there. So at 11:00ish a.m. I got my bag ready and we were off. Since Anna knows exactly when I have plans around lunch, she usually wakes up super early causing her naptime to fall at the exact moment in which the plans have been made. And today, she came through with a wake up call at 7:00 a.m. I know, that's really not that bad, but when she normally sleeps until 8:30 and sometimes even 9:30?? .... Anywho, I knew as soon as we got in the car that we didn't have much time before the "sleepy meltdown". We went anyway. I can handle anything (I think) after last weekend's 2 hour long psycho fit throwing and sickness. We got to Wal-Mart and walked around. Anna was surprisingly quiet for being as tired as she was. As I walked around the cosmetics section, Anna yawned and layed her head down on the cart...and fell RIGHT to sleep! She has NEVER done anything like that or even attempted it. There's usually way too much action happening around for her to miss. It was awesome! She slept for about 20 minutes in the cart. Just enough time for a little rejuvenation. ... a power nap. Too bad I didn't have my camera.

Spa Day

Occasionally Anna decides to take a moment and give herself a facial. She is pretty good at covering her entire face with a "product" and chose peach yogurt for this treatment. Although she went a little too far and got a bit in her eyes. Afterwards she told me that her skin felt smooth and refreshed. Ha! No, not really.

Eggs and an Easter Dress

Grammy bought this very cute dress for Anna for Easter. We had to warm it up with a turtle neck and some leg warmers since the temperature outside was only in the low 30s. No Easter egg hunts for us...or at least none outside. All the toddlers at our church had a small hunt on Sunday. I'm in charge of the toddlers' Sunday School class this semester. What was I thinking?! But Anna had fun "finding" eggs that were hidden in plain site. Ha! And she especially enjoyed the candy she found inside the eggs! MMM.

Easter in the snow

This weekend we had about 3 inches of snow. Aww, Spring... Typical for these parts... I figured it would be the last snow before the weather really decided to be consistantly nice again. But who knows. Anna MUST be outside at all times so we of course, bundled her up and let her go out to play.

A Horse Named "Keeli"

My good friend Krista brought her "puppy" by the house so we all could go to the park. This full blooded Great Dane is just a year old, but I assume she is as big as she's going to get. ... Or I hope. Krista was a little afraid that Keeli would scare Anna. But, nope...Anna walked right up to her, pointed up towards Keeli's nose and said "puppy!" with a huge smile. I tried my best to get some shots of them together so everyone could really see how huge this dog is. I'm sure most of you have seen a Great Dane, but the proportion between Keeli and Anna is hilarious.
